Xdinary Heroes has certainly had an interesting career, especially for having debuted less than a year ago.
The rookie band took home Best New Male Artist and Best Band Performance at the Mnet Asian Music Awards 2022, making them the first rock band to do so.
Xdinary Heroes debuted on December 6, 2021 under JYP Entertainment with the digital single “Happy Death Day” before being put on a hiatus. This caused fans to criticize their label for rushing their debut and providing limited promotions when compared to labelmate NMIXX, who debuted on February 22 with the mini-album Ad Mare. This left fans without a comeback until July 20 when they released their first EP Hello, World! and title track “Test Me.”
The band would not receive a fandom name until September 15, when it was announced fans would be called Villains.
“Without villains, it means that heroes will not exist either,” they posted on their official Twitter. “It is a symbiotic relationship that is essential to each other. Xdinary Heroes need their villains to exist.”
While the name garnered mixed reviews, it won over other contenders Xer, Xynergy, piXels, “♭” (flat) and ♭rose with 33.2% of the votes in an online poll.

They made their second comeback on November 11 with the album Overload and title track “Hair Cut.”
MAMA broadcast live on November 29 and 30 from the Kyocera Dome in Osaka, Japan. The even was hosted by soloist and former I.O.I member Jeon Somi.
